EasyJet genuinely gives you a larger box
The free EasyJet small bag can measure 45 × 36 × 20 cm including handles and wheels, and weigh up to 15 kg. That is materially larger than Ryanair’s 40 × 30 × 20 allowance, so a bag maximised for EasyJet will generally not be free on Ryanair.
Empty weight becomes the first filter
At the same maximum size, the Metz is around 600 g while a small hard-shell case can exceed 2 kg. For travellers who walk a lot, that difference matters more than an extra pocket.
The largest claimed volume is not automatically the best bag
Capacity figures vary by manufacturer method. We prioritise dimensions, weight, organisation and review signal rather than ranking solely by litres.
For a week, organisation can matter more than absolute lightness
Cabin Pack, Memphis or Ecodiver may be more pleasant when separating laptop, clothing, cables and documents. The structural weight is then the price of better organisation.
Wheels or straps: same logic as Ryanair
Wheels are excellent at airports and hotels, less useful on stairs, cobbles and public transport. With EasyJet’s larger allowance, the carrying difference becomes even more noticeable when full.
