PRODUCT SHORTLIST

Our shortlist by travel type

Compare use case, comfort, organisation and weight first: two products with similar dimensions can feel very different in everyday use.

#1
An insulated everyday bottle

An insulated steel bottle for someone who wants the same bottle for daily use and travel.

A covered drinking spout

Insulated steel is simplest for cities and daily use

Hydro Flask, Owala, S'well and Takeya keep water pleasant and handle regular use well. Their main downside is fixed weight and volume.

Collapsible works when empty space really matters

HYDAWAY folds down after use and frees bag space. The trade-off is a less rigid feel in the hand.

Filtration and purification are not the same

A filtered bottle such as LifeStraw Go targets certain contaminants and particles. Grayl UltraPress uses a broader purification approach. Always match the claimed performance to the actual destination risk.

The lid often decides whether you enjoy using it

Straw, wide mouth, protected spout or screw cap all change daily use. More complex lids also need more cleaning.

Our rule

City travel: Owala, Hydro Flask or S'well. Minimum empty volume: HYDAWAY. Uncertain water: examine LifeStraw or Grayl capabilities rather than buying a vaguely marketed ‘filtered’ bottle.
